The Muskingum County Civil Roundtable

The Zanesville Civil War Roundtable will meet Monday, March 22nd at 7:30pm in The Stone Academy Museum on Jefferson Street in Historic Putnam. The program will be the annual Civil War Book Discussion, originnaly scheduled for February. The book chosen this year is "Hardtack and Coffee". Originally published in 1888, the book became an immediate best seller, especially with the veterans and their families. It is one of the few books to give a vivid, detailed picture of what ordinary soldiers endured every day. Its author, John Billings, had served with the Army of The Potomac during the Civil War and survived the conditions he recorded. It is not necessary to have read the book in order to attend or participate. The Roundtable meetings are open to anyone with an interest in the American Civil War. Light refreshments will be served. Call 740-452-1075 for additional information. The Zanesville Civil War Roundtable will meet on Monday, February 22, at 7:30 pm in the Stones Academy Museum located at 115 Jefferson Street in Historic Putnam.
